Aloha e Mälama Pono,
Sifu Kai Li grew up in Hawaii. He has lived, fought, and trained all over the world.
His roots are in the Hawaiian systems of Kodenkan Judo & Jujitsu, Kajukenbo Kenpo, Indigenous Hawaiian Lua, and Hapkido which his father had studied while stationed in Korea.
His first exposure to Jeet Kune Do was through a High School Martial Arts Camp that Professor Wally Jay brought him up to attend. There he trained with Sijo James DeMile, Professor Wally Jay, and Guro Dan Inosanto, three men who represented Bruce Lee’s teaching in Seattle, Oakland, and Los Angeles.
He is a qualified instructor in lineages from all three locations that Bruce Lee taught in as well as in various systems that are part of the Jeet Kune Do journey. Li is a 5th Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu, a USJF Judo Master Instructor, a USA Boxing Certified Coach, Muay Thai Ajarn, FMA Edged & Impact Weapons Master Instructor, and an NRA Firearms Instructor.
Li has also trained thousands of students in emergency medical skills, swimming, lifesaving, and water safety. He believes that Self Defense is a “Life Skill” that everyone should have the opportunity to learn.
His specialty is in developing systems developed around the individual’s needs as well as in working with special populations and senior citizens.
The Safe Falling curriculum Li teaches has helped over a thousand people live their twilight years free from falling injuries.
